Independent deli and bistro, Bretta&Co. is delighted to be holding an exclusive Barone Pizzini wine tasting evening at the bistro’s city centre location, and to host Silvano Brescianini, the managing partner of the award-winning vineyard and Vice President of Italy’s Franciacorta Consortium, for his June visit to the UK.

For top quality sparkling wine, Italian vineyard Barone Pizzini’s Franciactorta is one of the best. Franciacorta is Italy’s top appellation for the production of classic method sparkling wines, which are made using similar production techniques to those used for the making of Champagne.

The vineyard regularly wins awards for its organic bubbles, and Bretta&Co. is offering guests the opportunity to try six of the best Barone Pizzini wines, from Franciacorta sparkling wines, to Red and White wines from Le Marche and Tuscany, during an exclusive tasting evening.

Gary Adlen, co-owner of Bretta&Co. says: “I’m delighted to be hosting Silvano as he brings some of the best Barone Pizzini wines to Liverpool for our customers to try, on what will be a delicious journey of some of Italy’s best wines.

“The wine tasting events are always special at Bretta&Co., but this one is even more so as it will be Silvano’s only visit to the North of England this year.”

As Barone Pizzini wine is organic, this means the grapes are grown without the use of artificial or synthetic chemicals, and importantly less sulphur dioxide. Generally, some wine drinkers may suffer from headaches due to their reaction to sulphite levels, however these are far lower generally in organic wines.

Gary adds: “We’re not promising there will be no hangovers as that is impossible, but the good quality of the wine and the lower sulphite levels do go a long way to making sure that headache the day after isn’t as bad as when drinking non-organic wine. So you don’t have an excuse to not go into work the next day!”

The team at Bretta&Co. have picked special taster coursers to go alongside the different wines. Guests will be treated to dishes such as handmade crab and prawn ravioli with a lobster and saffron bisque, and strawberry and black pepper panacotta.

Gary says: “We can’t wait for the evening. The team have pulled out all the stops to create a beautiful menu to go alongside the wines, and it gives budding wine enthusiasts the chance to meet a premier wine expert and learn about excellent wine.”

The event will take place on Thursday 25 June, starting at 7pm at the bistro, situated on Heathfield Street, just off Bold Street. Tickets cost £65, call Bretta&Co. on 0151 709 6369 for more information.
