Helen Thomas, BBC Newsnight's Business Editor, visited the Hawkshead Relish Shop in the Square, Hawkshead, on Thursday 02nd July to chat to business co-owner Maria Whitehead to discover how the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted on the business over the last 100+ days.
During her interview with Maria, Helen spent time talking with her about how the pandemic affected Hawkshead Relish’s core business, how the business adjusted to the changing needs of its staff, their customers and suppliers, all the while navigating financial and operational challenges of the pandemic.
Helen also spent time chatting with Maria about her thoughts on the future for the business and for the wider Cumbrian community, with a particular focus on the tourism sector, one of the mainstays of the county’s economy and how that will survive under the ‘‘new normal’’.
