New coronavirus certificate to help businesses set for launch

"The results are available in a matter of minutes, which mean people can then take the necessary action to either isolate themselves or carry on with their lives as best they can."

A New coronavirus certificate that aims to “open up Britain safely” is set to be launched next month.

Contagion Pass will be available to both businesses and individuals, offering Covid-19 testing carried out by private nurses and video consultations with GPs.

It is aimed to act as a “mark of safety” that shows firms have taken a number of precautions to ensure the wellbeing of their staff and customers.

Chris Niebel, the Manchester-based businessman behind the idea, said: “Like most people, I have seen the effect the coronavirus pandemic has had on life in the UK over the past few months.

“So I wanted to do something to help both the public and the economy bounce back quickly and safely now that lockdown is being lifted.

“That’s why I came up with Contagion Pass, which will allow life to return to somewhere near normal as soon as possible.”

The system utilises technology to help firms open safely by giving owners, staff and customers peace of mind about any potential risks they might face.

All businesses across the UK that display the Contagion Pass logo must adhere to strict guidelines to ensure the continued safety of their employees and customers.

The criteria includes staff being tested for Covid-19 every seven days, only allowing entry to customers with a Contagion Pass themselves, guaranteeing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) is in stock and that there is documented evidence of thorough cleaning protocols.

The platform works in partnership with smartphone app Get A Doctor that provides the technology to access private nurses for MHRA-approved Covid-19 testing at your own door or, for larger companies, at pre-arranged testing stations.

There is also access to online video consultation with GPs who can provide advice on any ongoing health concerns.

Contagion Pass includes state-of-the-art technology that will help track and stop the spread of the deadly virus.

Registered individuals will allow their smartphones to automatically exchange anonymous key codes with devices of other Contagion Pass users.

This means that if a person starts to display coronavirus symptoms and gets a positive test result, they can flag themselves up on the system and others users they have recently come into contact with will be notified.

Mr Niebel added: “We have access to finger-prick blood tests that have already been used on thousands of frontline NHS workers.

“They scour the blood for antibodies, which are only present if someone has previously had the virus.

“The results are available in a matter of minutes, which mean people can then take the necessary action to either isolate themselves or carry on with their lives as best they can.”
