The art of spare parts - Flextronics donate to local school

""

Children from a Warrington school have created futuristic works of art from spare parts donated by local supply chain company Flextronics.

Motherboards, keyboards, fans and circuits have all been put to good use by the children at Bridgewater High School, who fashioned the pieces into weird and wonderful sculptures and creatures.

Mike Meades, General Manager at Flextronics, said: “We were very impressed by the imagination and creativity of the finished sculptures.

“It’s an excellent use of spare parts that would otherwise have gone to waste and to be able to promote recycling and reusing to local children in such a fun way was fantastic.”

The school ran sculpture and drawing workshops for a class of Year 8 boys, who were encouraged to use their imaginations and experiment with different ideas before deciding on their final composition.

Hayley Weeks, the teacher at the school who led the sessions, said: “The work that the boys produced is excellent and I can only thank Flextronics for donating the materials to make it possible. It was a really rewarding session and greatly appreciated by both staff and pupils.”

The teams behind the three winning sculptures, a lizard, a robot and a liver bird, were presented with gift vouchers and the sculptures are now on display at Flextronics Warrington base.
