KY Jelly State of the Nation Study on Sex Habits

KY Jelly State of the Nation Study on Sex Habits

"We are seeing a strong correlation between those who lead healthier lives and those who are enjoying sex more than ever before"
Phoebe Buckley, Brand Manager for KY Jelly

KY Jelly, the UK’s leading*, personal lubricant, shared with the nation the findings of its major sex study**, as they chalked up over 80 items of broadcast coverage revealing our ‘under the cover’ habits.

Perfectly timed for New Year, and featuring ITV relationship expert Lucy Beresford, the KY Jelly survey of over 700 people revealed those who engage in sport or exercise at least once a week are leading the way when it comes to a great sex life.

Findings show that 65% of people who are health conscious*** agree that they’re now happier with their sex lives than they’ve ever been, with a staggering 48% of health-conscious people stating they’re having more sex now than when their relationship started.

Overall, with the introduction of binge watching in bed, scrolling through our iPhones, pressures of modern life, juggling work responsibilities and any family commitments, it’s little wonder that the magic gradually diminishes over time with 73% of those polled saying they have less sex 30 years or more into a relationship – that’s 46% for those together for three to ten years.

In fact, 28% of respondents are classified as ‘Sex Neglectors’**** with 67% of those not as interested as they used to be.

TV relationship expert Lucy Beresford says living a healthy lifestyle positively affects our relationships; “It’s fantastic that people are recognising the health benefits of an active sex life. Sex not only boosts our immune system, reduces stress and improves memory, it also makes us feel cherished and desired – which does wonders for our confidence.

Knowing how to add variety to your sex life is a way to keep it awesome, so whatever your age, trying new locations, introducing sex toys, or using products like KY Jelly can keep things fresh.

Sex after all is meant to be fun, and therefore it’s no surprise that according to this research, those who put a conscious effort into their sex life report being happier. And one of the best ways to keep sex fresh is to keep it playful, inventive or spontaneous. Lubricants for example are great for this because it means you and your partner can be ready for sex whenever the opportunity arises – or when you choose to masturbate, either together, or alone."

Phoebe Buckley, Brand Manager for KY Jelly comments: "We are seeing a strong correlation between those who lead healthier lives and those who are enjoying sex more than ever before. The most healthy amongst us are taking good care of themselves both in the bedroom and out - a positive message for the way forward as we go into 2020."
