Liverpool BID Company will once again sprinkle magic across Liverpool city centre this Christmas, with light displays, entertainment and workshops planned throughout November and December, part of its drive to boost visitor numbers and improve the experience in the city during the all-important festive period.

From November 15, shoppers, tourists and those who live and work in the city are invited to "Follow the Star" and explore an enchanting trail of twinkling lights and mystical sounds across the main BID areas. Follow the Star comes thanks to a partnership between the BID and Liverpool City Council and includes the return of the light installations on Bold Street and Castle Street, the Constellation Trees across the high street into the Commercial District, and the newly-commissioned art installation, Star Globe, a five-metre, 3D bauble in Williamson Square.

The traditional pine Christmas tree makes a welcome return to Church Street, along with the popular Christmas tree in St Paul’s Square and a further tree and festive decorations in Exchange Flags, behind Liverpool Town Hall.

The magic will also take over St Johns Shopping Centre and Metquarter with workshops and festive animation. St Johns will host its Elfie Selfie Station once again, where families are invited by the cheeky elves for fun, games and Christmas crafts you can take home. And choose from a selection of funky props and costumes and strike a pose in front of the superstar Christmas backdrop and giant photo frame. Great for your "elf" confidence (November 24-25, and December 1-2, 14-16, 21-23).

Metquarter will be hosting a festive selection of craft workshops for families and adults, from piñata-making and silver pendant workshops to creating handmade Christmas decorations including wreath-making and book art (every Saturday, November 17-December 15).

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for wonderful street entertainment appearing across the city centre every Thursday evening during the holiday season (after 5pm, from November 29-December 20).

And with so much to take in, visitors are also encouraged to capture their Christmas moment in Liverpool by seeking out one of several unique festive sets dotted around the city centre, taking a snap, and sharing it with friends and family online, including the hashtag #myliverpoolchristmas (from November 15 onwards).

Bill Addy, chief executive of Liverpool BID Company, added:

“We know how important Christmas is for our levy payers and for the city, that’s why we are working closely with our city partners and businesses to create a distinctive Christmas offer which helps strengthen Liverpool’s position as an all-year-round destination.

“Liverpool is going to feel very Christmassy this year, and whether you work in the city centre, or you are visiting to shop, eat, drink and be entertained, we promise you a magical experience! We are looking forward to a very busy festive season ahead.”
