Bubble Jobs Partners Up With Manchester Creative Studio

Bubble Jobs Partners Up With Manchester Creative Studio

""

Niche digital jobs board Bubble Jobs has become an official partner of specialist digital school Manchester Creative Studio, as part of their mission to get young people working in the digital industry.

The jobs board, which specialises in advertising digital jobs across the UK, has teamed up with the studio as part of their mission to educate young people about the job opportunities in the digital sector.

Manchester Creative Studio – which opens in September 2014 - is a specialist school for 14 to 19-year-olds who want a career in the creative and digital industries.

The school is one of just under 50 “Studio Schools” opened or due to open across the UK as a reaction to the increasing gap between the needs of school leavers in the 21st century and the outcomes that schools provide.

In addition to studying traditional GCSE and A-Level subjects like English, Maths and Science, students at Manchester Creative Studio will also be able to study for qualifications in more creative and digital subjects such as Animation, Graphic Communication, Computer Science and Games Design.

Bubble Jobs will provide the Manchester Creative Studio (MCS) with resources and information surrounding digital career opportunities, as well as providing talks and presentations to its students.

Bubble Jobs MD Adam Butwilowski said: “Initiatives such as the Manchester Creative Studio are vital to educate young people about the huge career opportunities that the digital industry provides, and to give them the skills they need to enter the sector.

“There’s a huge gap between the careers advice that current educational institutions provide to their students, and the information young people need to make an informed choice about the career path they wish to take.

“This is especially true when it comes to the digital industry, so it’s great to see schools like Manchester Creative Studio open up to bridge that gap, and we’re thrilled to be an Official Partner.”

The announcement comes after Bubble Jobs pledged to train and inform careers advisors at higher education institutions across the UK about digital careers as part of the European Commission’s Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs Initiative.

The initiative aims to increase the supply of ICT practitioners by 2015, addressing Europe’s predicted shortage of 900,000 ICT professionals by 2020.
Nicola Barthorpe, Principle of Manchester Creative Studio said:

"Here at MCS we are excited to be working in partnership with Bubble Jobs. We are providing an education for our young people that provides them with the skills needed to enter the digital industry.

“Through working with Bubble we can ensure that the careers advice they receive is sector-specific, equipping them with the knowledge they need to succeed.
“This is an exciting partnership that will help secure the digital sector for many years to come."

The partnership between Bubble Jobs and the Manchester Creative Studio comes during a critical time for the digital industry, as a report by the UK Digital Skills Taskforce revealed that Britain is facing an increasing shortage of digital skills.

Released last week, the Digital Skills for Tomorrow’s World report said that 745,000 additional workers with digital skills will be needed to meet rising demands between 2013 and 2017.

However, in March 2014 there were 975,000 young people in the UK not in education, employment or training.

Adam Butwilowski added: “The facts that came out of the UK Digital Skills Taskforce report were shocking, especially when you consider the sheer amount of job opportunities in the digital sector.

“This all reiterates the importance of schools like Manchester Creative Studio and backs up why we are on a mission to educate careers advisors and young people on the huge variety of routes into the digital industry.”
