Livingcity achieves BS OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 9001:2008 certifications

""

Manchester headquartered The Livingity Group of Companies has achieved certification in both BS OHSAS 18001:2007 - the international standard for Health and Safety that offers guidelines and tools to provide the best working conditions; and in ISO 9001:2008 - which is the international standard for Quality Management.

OHSAS 18001:2007 helps organisations to identify potential hazards and implement preventative procedures which aim to reduce accidents, illness and therefore costs. Attaining certification shows that Livingcity’s Health and Safety policy and objectives provide a clear understanding of a safer working environment both within HQ and the schemes under management.

ISO 9001:2008 sets out a set of key principles that ensure a common sense approach to the management of all business activities. It is also designed to consistently achieve customer satisfaction and ensure continual improvement. Holding it demonstrates that Livingcity provides the very best services to its clients and the residents it works with.

The 18001 audit involved two rigorous stages (an initial one day followed by a separate three day session) - both were completed by external BSI assessors. They included amongst other things: reviews of the health and safety management systems for each division within The Livingcity Group of Companies; an appraisal of the management system, legal requirements and an evaluation of compliance; along with a site visit; interviews with senior management/ site staff, as well as an examination of all health and safety procedures and reporting.

Some of the key benefits to achieving certification include: demonstrating that the business has a commitment to employee safety and welfare; ensuring continual improvement of H&S management and performance; improving reputation and stakeholder satisfaction, and driving greater involvement/ commitment from employees and management. The ultimate result is an improved overall H&S culture.

Mark Gallimore – Managing Director (pictured) - said; “The entire Livingcity team is committed to meeting, and exceeding, industry standards. We are proud of our procedures, policies and objectives and believe achieving these certifications will help to reinforce the future direction of Livingcity, as well as motivate and inspire everyone in the organisation.”
