Macclesfield retirement community is sell-out success

"There's a real sense of community here and its wonderful to see so many happy homeowners enjoying their retirement."
Alexandra Johnson, Adlington Retirement Living

Situated on the banks of the Macclesfield Canal, The Bridges offers homeowners stunning canal views along with a magnificent outlook of the surrounding countryside and is not far from the local shops and the bustling town centre.

Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director for Adlington Retirement Living, said: “We’re really pleased to have already welcomed homeowners to 59 of our 62 apartments at The Bridges and are looking forward to welcoming the new owners of the three remaining apartments in October and November. There’s a real sense of community here and it’s wonderful to see so many happy homeowners enjoying their retirement.”

The community won the Silver Award for Best Retirement Development at the WhatHouse? Awards when it opened in 2019. The judges praised Adlington’s approach to independent living, and the fact that homeowners don’t have to compromise on their lifestyle, their social life, or their independence.

Its thriving community offers new friendships, social occasions, and safe activities that homeowners can dip into whenever the mood takes them. They can enjoy the privacy of their own peaceful and spacious apartment, spend time in the leafy gardens (maintained by an expert team of gardeners), relax in the hairdressing salon, therapy suite or Homeowners’ lounge and invite their friends over to enjoy the table service restaurant, without having to think about cooking or washing up. It has become a wonderful community hub for its homeowners.

Eddie who moved to The Bridges in January 2020 with his wife Mabel, said: “Since we moved here, we can walk straight out onto the canal footpath. Being by the canal gives us a beautiful view and it serves a purpose - to enjoy walks without the hills. That was a major feature that appealed to us. Another reason was the view from here. The garden’s beautiful too.”

Mabel added: “We enjoy eating in the restaurant, either when we have people over for lunch or just the two of us. I feel like a lady of leisure really – being waited on and not having to do a lot. We’ve got so much more leisure time to do what we want to do.”

Alexandra Johnson believes the retirement community is a wonderful example of a new blueprint for retirement living: “Adlington’s vision is to empower our older generation to live a long, happy and healthy life. We do that by creating safe and secure environments with active communities, extensive facilities, and spacious, quality homes, providing an opportunity to enjoy retirement with a new perspective.”

The 24-hour on-site support teams provide homeowners with peace of mind and, if needed, the option of tailored personal care packages suited to individual’s needs. In addition to this, there is a sophisticated emergency call system as well as a security video entry to manage access.

Alexandra Johnson adds: “We offer a personal approach to care to ensure that our homeowners receive just the right amount to maintain their independence, allowing them to enjoy their retirement to the full. It’s completely flexible, so should anybody find that their requirements change in the future, the discreet care team will be able to accommodate and support them.”
