Pentone to positively disrupt UKs £50bn per year alcohol beverages industry

Brand looking to create and bring more healthier and innovative alcoholic drinks to market

Pentone to positively disrupt UKs £50bn per year alcohol beverages industry

"It was this innovation and determination that inspired me to build this independent family business around the story."
Philip Pentone Robinson

The Pentone Family’s mission is to create and bring healthier and innovative alcoholic drinks and brands to market, with a focus on the core Pentone range being naturally lower in calories. After living and working away in Italy, their founder Philip Pentone Robinson returned to the UK inspired to create better beverages initially for the British market. Gaining a scholarship to undertake this research, the University of Manchester spin-out set about developing a wide range of products, testing the market with some very tasty drinks with the best of global, British and Italian flavours.

Disrupted but not derailed by COVID, The Pentone Family is now setting course with it’s flagship botanical spirit for gin lovers – Pentone Ocean Storm – which is naturally lower in calories, with no added sugar and 30% lower abv compared to standard strength spirits, for regular drinkers who want to drink better and drink smarter. It’s natural blue colouring and name is nod to the family’s forefather Antonio Pentone who won the Liverpool Shipwreck & Human Society gallantry award for saving 28 men’s lives in a shipwreck and storm in the Indian Ocean. He made it fast to the rocks and by tying a lee rope to himself swam back and forth for each man even going back for the ship’s dog (the paper at the time reported a cat but either way another life saved!).

"It was this innovation and determination that inspired me to build this independent family business around this story," said Philip. "It's the fuel for Pentone to positively disrupt the UK’s £50bn a year alcoholic beverages market, with the ambition to have products launched in all key categories in the next year and to be stocked nationally in the next three."

Respecting tradition as well as innovation, the family are also launching a sister brand Spirit of Strawberry Fields, starting with a strawberry flavoured gin (made with natural strawberries and no added sugar of course) which is set to be summer in a glass!

Which one will you be drinking this Christmas?
