HURST promotes duo and creates more graduate roles

Accountancy and business advisory firm HURST has promoted Rachel Jackson and Richard Smethurst to newly-created positions of assistant manager.
Rachel, pictured, and Richard joined HURST as graduate trainees in 2003 and 2007 respectively. Rachel works in the firm’s tax department while Richard is a member of the business services team.
HURST has also announced plans to expand its graduate intake to six this year, up from the usual four.
The firm usually only recruits graduates into its business services team, but this year is extending the programme to include its tax and corporate finance divisions.
Partner Simon Brownbill, who is HURST’s director of practice development and is in charge of recruitment at the firm, said: “We are expanding our graduate scheme to meet growing demand and to address a shortage in the market of experienced junior tax and corporate finance people.
“We are committed to promoting from within where we can and Rachel and Richard are shining examples of this policy, having both joined the firm as graduate trainees.
“We are continuing our recruitment programme beyond graduate level, with a focus on expanding our tax team by bringing in experienced practitioners up to senior manager level.”
Meanwhile HURST has recruited Siouan Oliver to its payroll division. She joins as a payroll executive.
