RAM Tracking partners with ITV-owned equipment supplier

RAM Tracking partners with ITV-owned equipment supplier

"We are greatly encouraged by our partnership with ProVision and, as a company, RAM Tracking is pleased to show how tracking provisions can help companies increase their environmental sustainability."
Chris McClellan, CEO, RAM Tracking

Leeds-based vehicle telematics provider, RAM Tracking, has announced a new partnership with ProVision Facilities, an equipment supplier for the film and television industry. The new relationship will see RAM Tracking provide telematics solutions, allowing ProVision to meet and exceed its ambitious environmental sustainability targets.

ProVision Facilities has operated in the film and television industry since 1989 and has bases in Leeds, Manchester and London.

Whether for the big or the small screen, the process behind any production is complex and disparate. As part of its distribution and delivery network, ProVision operates a large fleet of vehicles which regularly travel up and down the UK. Because of its ties to the UK film and television industry, ProVision has an obligation to feed into Albert.

Albert is a scheme run by a collaboration of BAFTA, indie film producers and broadcasters that provides the film and TV industries with the expertise and opportunities needed to act on environmental sustainability. Albert’s aim is to ensure that all UK screen content is made and produced in a way that benefits not only individuals and industry organisations, but the planet as well.

Through the company’s partnership with RAM Tracking, ProVision Facilities tracks 34 vehicles, allowing mileage to be monitored on a production by production basis. This information is then fed into Albert by production teams so that accurate carbon readings can be reported. Once this reading has been gained, the production company can tailor their activity and ensure it meets Albert’s objectives.

The data collected by RAM Tracking’s telematics software allows ProVision Facilities to monitor mileage and reduce idling time, as well as monitoring when rental equipment leaves sites and how much time it spends at production facilities.

Chris McClellan, CEO, RAM Tracking said “We are greatly encouraged by our partnership with ProVision Facilities and, as a company, RAM Tracking is pleased to show how our tracking provisions can help companies increase their environmental sustainability. Recent press coverage about the impact of polluted air on long-term health means that we’re experiencing an increase in customers who want to track their vehicles in order to reduce their carbon footprint before the ultra-low emissions zones are rolled out beyond London.”

Danny Howarth, head of sales and technical operations at ProVision Facilities, said: “Due to the nature of our business, we face various challenges of running a normal fleet. These include working across varied locations, continually changing schedules and managing production hours vs driving hours. Tracking enables us to have 24/7 monitoring, which gives us peace of mind during production. Driver ID ensures we have up to date information on who’s driving which vehicle at any time plus the added security benefits of tracking.

“As an Albert-approved supplier, reducing the carbon footprint of film and TV production is a big initiative, both for us and across the industry. The reporting from RAM Tracking ensures we can give our productions accurate and timely mileage and C02 reports at the click of a button.  Additionally, with more ‘clean air zones’ being introduced across the country, RAM Tracking helps us prepare for these inevitable changes.”
