Leicester Marriott Opens Hotel To Global Market With Market-Leading VR Tours

"Research shows that guests and event planners conduct a huge amount of research online before they make a decision to book a particular venue"
John Shelton, director of Mi

Leicester’s Marriott Hotel has launched an innovative new 3D virtual reality tour allowing event bookers from across the globe to experience first-hand any one of their market leading conference and event spaces - before they even step into the building.

The Leicester Marriott is one of the first in their portfolio of 86 hotels throughout the UK to roll out this technology.

The immersive 3D and VR virtual tour of the stylish hotel transports potential customers directly into any one of their 20 meeting and events spaces. Combined with the hotel’s innovative Marriott Meetings app which connects planners and hotel teams on any web-enabled device in real time, 24/7, they can get an in-depth look into how their event would work, look and feel - without leaving their desk.

The virtual reality 3D technology arrives following the hotel’s recent high-end refurbishment which has seen the hotel undergo substantial investment and the introduction of state-of-the-art facilities to enhance the stay and comfort of both business and leisure guests.

The virtual tour was carried out by Leicester-based company Mi360, which has created the 360-degree virtual tour to bring the building and facilities to life on the computer screen, helping the hotel to showcase its conferencing rooms, and soon also its restaurants and atrium.

Commenting on the virtual reality tour, Hotel Manager Rajesh Chahar said:

“We, at Leicester Marriott, are immensely proud of this market-leading, virtual reality tour, as it opens us up to a global market of event planners who can confidently – and accurately – visualise how their event, exhibition, party or conference can look at our hotel”.

John Shelton, director of Mi360 added: “Matterport 3D walkthroughs give potential guests the most realistic and engaging experience of the hotel space right when they want it most – online.”

The refurbishment of the hotel has made it even more of a destination venue for business and pleasure.  The major investment includes the complete renovation of the Grove Suite, which is the hotel’s largest conference and banqueting space, which can seat up to 400 attendees.

Other areas of technology include ClickShare, the wireless, plug and play presentation system that allows multiple users to stream to the same TV; perfect for meetings.  In addition, there is new and improved Electronic Room Signage and Write on Wall technology in some meeting rooms for confidentiality, as well as collaborative breakout areas to inspire social interaction and conference engagement.

The 227-bedroom hotel, conveniently located by the junction between the M1 and M69, and just ten minutes from Leicester City Centre, has welcomed over 300,000 conference delegates across its 20 meeting rooms since it opened its doors in May 2006.
