Online cards and gifts business launches range aimed at homeschooling heroes

"I take my hat off to all the parents, guardians, siblings and remote teachers who have helped keep kids busy and motivated to learn during the pandemic."

Online cards and gifts business Love Layla has launched a range of thank you cards aimed at homeschooling heroes.

The card designs have come following hundreds of requests from customers wishing to thank parents, guardians and teachers for their homeschooling efforts during the lockdown period.

The Pontefract based firm has seen sales for the cards quadruple in the last fortnight with founder and owner, Stacey Dennis already working on new designs to add to the existing range.

Cards include ‘homeschool teacher of the year’, ‘homeschool squad’ and ‘Not all heroes wear capes’. Stacey has also produced a ‘Holy Brible’ sequined-notebook with the phrase ‘bribes to get my kids to do homeschooling’ on the cover. Badges and mugs are also available.

Stacey chose to close down Love Layla for the duration of lockdown to protect her staff, customers and suppliers and in mid-April successfully remotely launched e-card versions of her popular cards designs. In March she created specially designed colouring sheets or 'adult learning packs' for parents to help them relax during the lockdown. The free to download colouring sheets which even included a Captain Tom variant, quickly went viral, with thousands of shares and downloads.

Stacey, who named the business after six year old daughter, Layla, and confesses to being a terrible homeschooler said: “Our thank you NHS and key worker range proved to be very popular and this prompted lots of inquiries from our customers who wanted to say thanks to all those homeschooling heroes who have ensured that children keep learning during the school closures. I take my hat off to all the parents, guardians, siblings and remote teachers who have helped keep kids busy and motivated to learn during the pandemic. I definitely don’t fall within this category and I’m not expecting to receive a card!”

In just five years, Love Layla has grown to become a multi-million-pound operation with over a million fans on social media. Love Layla's extensive design range attracts an international customer base as well as interest from some of the UK's largest card retailers. The brand has also established a cult following.

Stacey Dennis started the business from her kitchen table in 2015 with just £30 after being made redundant as a designer.
