One of the country’s best-known family jewellers is celebrating its engagement with a Harrogate arts charity.
For Ogden of Harrogate – which last year celebrated its 125th anniversary – has formed a sparkling new partnership with Harrogate International Festivals.
The James Street business, which has recently launched its new diamond collection of engagement rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets, is putting its name to the inaugural Royal Hall Residency boasting three evenings of flawless entertainment.
Replacing the Spiegel tent, the first act to “take over” the Grade II Listed venue on the evening of Thursday, July 27, is the ever-popular A-list entertainers, Gypsy Queens.
They are swiftly followed the following night by legendary Hacienda DJ Graeme Park, and, on Saturday, the stars of The House of Burlesque take to the stage, promising an evening full of high-end glamour and joyful satire, before giving way to the silent disco finale.
Ogden’s current owners Robert and Ben are direct descendent of founder Robert Ogden, who in 1893, opened his Ogden’s Little Diamond Shop. Within a few years it moved into its current location attracting clientele from around the world. These include Winston Churchill, the Roosevelts and King George VI, to name but a few.
Robert Ogden said: “When the team at Harrogate International Festivals began engaging us in talks about becoming a premier partner, we looked long and hard at where our support could bring some extra sparkle.
“For us The Royal Hall Residency was the perfect fit – something we are very happy to have our name wedded to. The building has been around nearly as long as we have, both being synonymous with Harrogate for well over a century.
“Whilst we have a classic collection of jewellery and watches – new and vintage – the performers over the three days are all classics in their own individual right.”
Harrogate International Festivals’ chief executive Sharon Canavar said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Ogden of Harrogate joining us a premier partner.
“Whilst diamonds are said to be a girl’s best friend, Ogden has very quickly become one of Harrogate International Festivals best friends!
“As a charity, we rely on funding from a variety of different sources, including local and regional businesses.
“Without support from the likes of Ogden, we just wouldn’t be able to bring the world-class artists, speakers, musicians and performers Harrogate International Festivals has become famed for.”
