"Its great to see Cash Converters bucking the trend for high street store closures. The second Dundee store should provide a welcome boost to the local economy and we really applaud Shaz and his team."

Dundee businessman Shaz Sardar today (Wednesday 1 August) celebrated the opening his second Cash Converters UK store located in Lochee’s High Street.
Shaz, 32, was joined by friends, family, his new team of staff and the owner of the original Dundee Cash Converters store (pictured), retiree Brian McRobb, as he cut the ribbon marking the shop’s official opening.
The store is the second Cash Converters UK to be established in Dundee by Mr Sardar who has run a central Dundee store on Whitehall Crescent for over 20 years.
The new Lochee shop has created a total of 11 retail staff positions for locals and is located in a completely refitted unit which had not been in use since February 2017.
All work on the store was carried out by local tradesmen, including joiner Stewart Elder, signage by Arthur Duncan, glazing by Esk Glazing and shop security by Nova Alarms.
Mr Sardar said: "I am very excited about playing a part in the regeneration of Lochee High Street. With the town needing investment and a boost I hope that my business can play a part.
“As our staff base increases so do opportunities within the Cash Converters UK stores for employees to be promoted and possibly managing their own store one day, which is good for employment and skills expansion.
He added: “We are a very friendly, local team and look forward to serving Lochee shoppers who wish to buy or sell quality items.”
Retired owner of the original Dundee central Cash Converters UK store Brian McRobb said it was a touching moment to see Shaz expand his business.
“It has been a pleasure to open the Lochee store with Shaz after many good years myself at Cash Converters.”
The store will offer locals the opportunity to buy good-as-new electricals, jewellery, sports equipment and gifts, all at budget-friendly prices.
Music collectors will be keen to check out the store’s impressive musical instrument and electric guitar gallery in particular.
As with all Cash Converter UK stores nationwide, the store also plans to support community causes and events. It will additionally be partnering with local charities in fund-raising opportunities.
Tony Richardson, MD of Cash Converters UK said: “It’s great to see Cash Converters bucking the trend for high street store closures. The second Dundee store should provide a welcome boost to the local economy and we really applaud Shaz and his team for all their efforts in this. Cash Converters UK is expanding at an exciting rate with many more stores due to open in the next 12 months across the UK.”
