Island Store Recognised Among Best in the UK Based on Outstanding 2019 Traveller Reviews

ARRAN Sense of Scotland Win Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Award for Attractions

"The aim has been for it to be much more than just a shop. Its a place for our visitors to relax and really immerse themselves in the entire process of how we craft our products."
Kevin Meechan, CEO of ARRAN Sense of Scotland

ARRAN Sense of Scotland’s luxury home and body care store on the Isle of Arranhas been recognised as a 2020 Travellers’ Choice award-winner for attractions, based on a full year of Tripadvisor reviews, prior to any changes caused by the pandemic. Award winners are known for consistently receiving great traveller feedback, placing them in the top 10% of hospitality businesses around the globe.

The award sets the family-run business among some of the world’s best-known and most visited tourist attractions - Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park, Islands of Adventure are just some of the prestigious organisations that have received similar recognition in recent years as well as the Auchrannie Hotel on Arran, The Caledonian and the Waldorf Astoria, Edinburgh closer to home.

Kevin Meechan, CEO at ARRAN Sense of Scotland said:

“Being acknowledged by the world’s best-known reviews platform for an award based on positive ratings, reviews and saves is a wonderful testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, all of whom continually go above and beyond to offer the high levels of customer service our stores have become known for.

“We’ve invested a lot of time and effort into making our store a multi-sensory experience. The aim has been for it to be much more than just a shop. It’s a place for our visitors to relax and really immerse themselves in the entire process of how we craft our products. Pre-pandemic, we held regular soap and candle making workshops for children, which have proven extremely popular and we hope to reintroduce more activities like this as soon as we are able to.

“The fact that this award is essentially voted for by the public makes it even more meaningful for us. We’re an organisation driven by traditional values – creating high-quality fragrances, lovingly made and delivered to the customer with care and attention to detail.”

“Winners of the 2020 Travellers’ Choice Awards should be proud of this distinguished recognition,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer at Tripadvisor. “Although it’s been a challenging year for travel and hospitality, we want to celebrate our partners' achievements. Award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality. Not only are these winners well deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration for travellers as the world begins to venture out again.”

The award is a result of consistently good customer reviews and ratings on Trip Advisor. An example of which is from user G22580Ktanyab from Dublin, Ireland who wrote:

Great local products

“I love Arran Sense of Scotland stuff, especially *After the Rain* so it was nice to visit the island and the shop. The staff were lovely, we tried some of the products in the big shop store sinks (great idea) and I ended up buying some new scents on this trip. Did not know about the points scheme which is a great incentive for keeping stocked up :-) Definitely add to your list for a visit on the island, you will really enjoy it and the staff are very friendly.”

ARRAN Sense of Scotland has recently outlined a new brand purpose driven by the overwhelming response to its charitable and community work during the coronavirus pandemic, during which it rallied to help local communities and distributed 15,000 free bars of soap to residents and over £100,000 worth of bath, hair and body care products to key workers across the UK.

Kevin Meechan, CEO of ARRAN Sense of Scotland added:

“The Isle of Arran is home to our Brand and has been for over 30 years. For me and my family, the Isle of Arran has always embodied relaxation, family time and love of the outdoors and nature. The ferry crossing creates that physical barrier from the mainland that almost acts as a switch that instantly allows you to escape from the stresses and pace of everyday life. This opportunity, offered by our island home, to escape, recharge and rejuvenate, for me, perfectly represents ‘wellbeing’, both physical and mental. With the restrictions brought around by lockdown, wellbeing has never been so important. We at ARRAN Sense of Scotland, by living our Purpose, aim to bring the Isle of Arran to the world and through our products, create empowering connections with nature.”
