Katie left floored by new store opening

A free prize draw staged to mark the opening of a new flooring store in Stockport turned out well for local couple.

Moving into and furnishing a new house can prove expensive so winning £1,000 worth of flooring was just the ticket for Katie Hughes-Dawkins.

Katie and her partner Christopher visited Flooring Superstore in Stockport to look at flooring for their new five-bedroom home in Cheshire.

The couple chose wood flooring for their hallway and kitchen and as they were about to pay for it, they were invited to draw one of 150 golden tickets that had been put in a bowl as part of a promotion to mark the opening of the 4,000 square-foot store at Portwood Court.

All the tickets contained money off flooring in the store, but only one contained £1,000.

To her surprise and delight, Katie picked out the £1,000 ticket, which made buying the flooring an even more pleasant experience.

She explains: “The flooring we chose was going to cost around £4,500 because it was high quality and covered a large space in the house.

“Our original plan was to order the flooring and then to save up enough money to have it installed but winning the £1,000 meant we could put it in immediately and we couldn’t be happier.

“There’s always a lot of expense when you move into a new house, but this really helped.

“I have never won anything in my life before, so it was a lovely experience.”

Greig Anderson, Flooring Superstore Regional Manager, said: “There were still lots of tickets in the bowl when Katie picked one out, so she defied the odds to select the one with £1,000 worth of flooring.

“It’s great that they were able to use it to reduce the money they paid for their flooring; it couldn’t have gone to more deserving people!”

Visitors to any branch of Flooring Superstore across the UK also have access to two other brands, Grass Direct and Direct Wood Flooring.
