"There are so many amazing rewards to vlogging, and with my new camera and the cash prize I can make sure Im creating the best content for all my followers!"
Josie Taplin, GetYourVlogOn Liverpool winner
A 19 year old musical theatre student has been named the best vlogger in Merseyside and the winner of St Johns Shopping Centre’s search for Liverpool’s freshest vlogging talent.
Liverpudlian Josie Taplin has won a brand new Canon camera as well as £600 to spend in St Johns Shopping Centre after being chosen as the region’s winner of GetYourVlogOn.
Speaking about her win, Josie says she was surprised to have been chosen, “A friend saw the GetYourVlogOn competition on St Johns’ twitter and said I should give it a go. I’ve never won anything before so after I entered I totally forgot about it until I was told I’d won!”
The Liverpool Media Academy student, who vlogs on her YouTube channel ‘ThatsPeach’, began vlogging a year ago after becoming inspired by a number of different YouTubers, “When I was 16 I’d had to take a bit of time off school in my last year, and watching different people on YouTube share their stories really helped cheer me up. I thought if they could do it, why not me?”
“I’d tried blogging for a bit, but I realised pretty quickly that it was easier for me to get my points across (not to mention all the Liverpool slang I was using) in a video rather than a blog post. I’ve been addicted to it ever since, sharing make-up tips and fashion advice, and really getting a conversation going with all my subscribers.”
“That’s why I’m so proud to have won Liverpool’s GetYourVlogOn competition. There are so many amazing rewards to vlogging, and with my new camera and the cash prize I can make sure I’m creating the best content for all my followers!”
After being chosen as Liverpool’s freshest vlogger, Josie is now through to the final round of GetYourVlogOn and will travel to London for a finalists’ lunch with vloggers from other parts of the country. The final winner of the competition will be awarded a £1,000, a photoshoot and national ad campaign for her channel, and a trip to New York for two.
Robert Bradley, the centre manager of St Johns, was really pleased to be part of Get Your Vlog On, “Liverpool is a city that’s always incredibly proud of its own home-grown talent. Josie’s vlog has an impressive following, and she’s really at the forefront of this growing trend in the city.
Josie’s channel gets such a strong amount of engagement and we’re really pleased to be able to help her get even more exposure, and create some really exciting content that she can share with the world. We’re really proud of all her hard work, and wish her all the best in the finals!”
Josie has three months to create content for her channel before the finalists’ lunch, after which a winner will be chosen and named 2016 GetYourVlogOn Top Vlogger.
