A MIDLANDS teenager whose first job included working for one of the world’s top footballers has secured promotion of a different kind.
Harry Ball has been appointed to the role of Sales Account Manager with Walsall family firm allpack Packaging – aged just 19.
The company, headquartered Middlemore Lane West, Aldridge, is celebrating its 25th anniversary and counts household names such as Dunelm, Travis Perkins, Wickes, Mazda and Volvo among its growing portfolio of blue-chip clients.
His new job will see him responsible for working with a group of customers nationwide that generate more than £2.8m of sales for the packaging specialists
Harry, who lives in Sutton Coldfield, had his first taste of work experience with a Coventry-based company - where the highlight was visiting the home of client Gareth Bale. the Wales, Tottenham and Real Madrid winger.
He joined allpack in 2017 as a procurement assistant before moving into sales.
Sales Director Marcus Clarke said: “We are always looking to develop home-grown talent and promote our people from within wherever possible.
“We are delighted to welcome Harry into this important role – a perfect fit for the customer service and sales skills he has to grow our business and take it forward.
“It comes ahead of one of the busiest times of the year for us, with our e-commerce packaging specialism set for more growth as the internet shopping boom continues to gather pace.”
Allpack Packaging, which has grown from small-scale beginnings 25 years ago to now employ almost 50 people, recently invested a six-figure sum into its headquarters and an off-site storage facility as part of its expansion programme.
It now has more than 6,000 product lines available for fast delivery nationwide.
Its unique manufacturing capability and capacity means that each year it can supply over 10,000 tonnes of film, 600 million sq ft of tape, and 100,000 kilometres of strapping – enough to go around the world two-and-a-half-times.
