Wayne Brophy, founder of specialist recruitment company, Cast UK, has been invited to become an Entrepreneur in Residence at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), which is ranked in the top 1% of business schools across the globe.
Business owner, Wayne, has been appointed by the Department of Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation following his success in the business school’s LEAD 2 Innovate programme, led by Ian Gordon, having won the coveted Business Growth Award.
As an ambassador for LUMS, Wayne will help to drive the institute’s strategy to integrate teaching, research and knowledge exchange with the business community. The role will involve working with students to mentor, guide and foster business ideas that enrich the classroom experience.
As a business leader who is committed to continual development, Wayne’s role at the university will enhance his existing peer-to-peer network, as well as provide access to academic prowess and some of the UK’s brightest graduates.
The Entrepreneurship in Residence will also boost Wayne’s commitment to driving the growth of Cast UK, which specialises in sourcing professional and managerial level talent in procurement, buying and merchandising, supply chain and logistics for FTSE 500 companies.
Commenting on his appointment, Wayne said: “It’s a privilege to be invited to work with, mentor and guide students at LUMS. As a recruitment specialist I am really passionate about nurturing the talent pipeline into industry so this is an excellent means of putting this into practice.”
Ian Gordon, Entrepreneur in Residence and programme director of LEAD 2 Innovate, said: “I was originally appointed with a brief to be a ‘cultural irritant’ – to question ways of working and challenge assumptions. We have a cohesive network of EiRs now in place, each with a proven track record in business, ensuring that LUMS continues to be globally competitive and well placed to develop business talent of tomorrow.”
