Crewe-based international visa specialist and preferred supplier to the UK's leading travel providers, The Travel Visa Company, has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of new Head of Sales Philip Ashwell.
Philip, a successful and talented Senior Manager with more than 20 years of experience in multi-site management across the travel industry joins the rapidly-expanding company, with a turnover of £1.2million, from Virgin Holidays where he worked as National Business Development Manager.
At Virgin, Philip worked a member of a senior team six reporting directly to the head of retail and responsible for all sales and marketing activities across 104 retail stores for Cruise, Touring and boutique hotels.
In his new role, Philip, from Worcester, will be responsible for heading up The Travel Visa Company’s sales team and new business development.
The appointment coincides with the Crewe Hall-based company’s expansion and launch of its Central Manchester bespoke and dedicated corporate division, in response to overwhelming demand from UK businesses trading internationally.
Philip’s career also includes the role of Head of Sales (South Central Territory) for Thomas Cook Co-operative Travel where he was a member of a senior team reporting directly to Managing Director Retail Travel; responsible for all sales activities and the leadership of 10 Regional Sales Managers, 287 travel stores, travel sales of £500m, foreign exchange sales of £291m and payroll costs of £28m.
Prior to this, he worked as Retail Sales & Operations Manager for Midlands Co-op Travel. A member of senior team of five, reporting directly to General Manager (Travel), Philip was responsible for reports across 103 shops and held Profit and Loss responsibility, across the Midlands and South Yorkshire, of £260m.
