Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) is offering funding to North West businesses to recruit 2015 graduate interns.
MMU’s successful graduate internship scheme GradMatch supports organisations across the North West to recruit a recent graduate for at least 8 weeks and receive £1000 towards their salary.
In addition to the financial support provided, MMU’s Employer Liaison Team offers help with the creation of job descriptions; promotion of the vacancy to graduates with the skills needed by the organisation; and provide a shortlist of suitable candidates, with no cost to the employer.
In previous years, the scheme has helped local organisations who may not have the financial or internal resource to recruit graduates for themselves. Many employers have also used the scheme as a method for trialling new recruits, with nearly 80% of graduates offered extensions at the end of their internships in 2014/15.
The 2015/16 scheme is now open for applications from both employers and graduates. In order to receive the funding, internship start dates must lie between Monday 23 November and Monday 11 January.
Josie Leydon, employer liaison manager, said: “The MMU GradMatch scheme takes some of the traditional recruitment burdens away as we manage the process from start to finish, offer recruitment expertise and match employers directly with the skills they require to develop their organisation.
“As well as supporting local businesses, the scheme allows recent MMU graduates to gain paid work experience in a range of industries and sectors, utilising the skills and enthusiasm gained from their recent studies.”
