Howzat! Yorkshire developer launches £5m new homes collection in cricket hero's boyhood village

YORKSHIRE developers have started bringing to life a £5m collection of family homes in the heart of the Nidderdale Way, an acclaimed Area of Natural Beauty.

Leeds-based Loxley Homes has appointed estate agents Linley & Simpson and Croft Residential to launch to market its latest development at Village Mews in the picturesque village of Darley, near Harrogate.

It is being created just a cricket ball’s throw from where England’s most successful Test batsman, Herbert Sutcliffe, took up the sport as a youngster.

The development is a collection of 18 homes that feature a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes, with a choice of both detached and semi-detached, with starting prices from £265,000.

“This is an exclusive cul-de-sac development that sits in an elevated position to the south side of the main street of this historic village,” said Director of Land and New Homes at Linley & Simpson, David Waddington.

“Loxley Homes is a niche developer which has a proven track record of building high-quality homes in Yorkshire for more than 30 years, and we are thrilled to the partnering with it once again on this flagship scheme.

“Its design team has made the very best of the array of natural features on its doorstep, with many homes enjoying rural views stretching across Nidderdale and good-sized family gardens.”

Darley is part of the Nidderdale Way, a circular long-distance footpath in an Area Of Natural Beauty, nestling in the beautiful easternmost valley of the Yorkshire Dales.

A regular winner in Britain and Europe in Bloom competitions, it also supports a range of nationally and internationally important habitats and wildlife – including deers and badgers!

The village is steeped in history – so much so that it boasts its own Heritage Trail around the village taking in over 20 of its most interesting buildings and monuments from yesteryear. They include Stocks Green, the original village green, which still retains a set of historic stocks to this day.

Darley is also home to a primary school rated as “good” by Ofsted as well as what the Daily Telegraph hailed as “one of Yorkshire’s loveliest pubs with a restaurant and rooms”. It added that the dog-friendly, 18th Century Wellington Inn also boasted “the most beautiful views over parkland”.

Homebuyers will be able to get a sneak peek into the development when it stages its first show home open weekend on February 1 and 2.
