Another storey local resident finds dream home

A Swindon homeowner was delighted when a new chapter in life prompted him to take the next step on the property ladder and return to townhouse living

Another storey local resident finds dream home

"From the moment I set foot in the showhomes, I was blown away by the build quality and layout of the homes."
Christian

After separating from his partner, 49-year-old Christian set out to find a new home near to his children’s school, while also remaining close to the centre of Swindon. It was a no brainer when he discovered a three-storey home, perfect for modern living, was available just down the road.

Originally from Montreal, Christian moved to the Europe in 1997, after finding his dream job overseas. Having spent much of his time living in lively and well-connected locations, both in Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK, Christian loved the accessibility of town life, and was keen to find a new property that was close to Swindon town centre, as well as providing the space for both him and his children.

Christian previously lived in a grade II listed cottage, and was keen to purchase a well-built home that required little maintenance. As part of his search for the perfect property, he looked at a variety of houses, including homes at Badbury Park built by another developer. Upon visiting the development, the characterful Redrow homes caught Christian’s eye, and after looking around, he placed his deposit on the very same day.

Christian commented: “I’ve spent a lot of time living in the heart of the action, and ideally, I wanted to remain living within walking distance of the town centre. However, I was so impressed by the quality and beauty of the Redrow properties, I immediately knew I had found the right home at Badbury Park.”

“From the moment I set foot in the showhomes, I was blown away by the build quality and layout of the homes. Growing up, I lived in a townhouse, and so I was delighted to discover there were also three-storey properties available at Badbury Park.

“The aesthetic of the home aligned with my own tastes, and I loved the idea of having a balcony to enjoy in the warmer months. The aspect that really sealed the deal was the bedrooms. As any parent will know, who gets the bigger bedroom can be the cause of arguments between children, so I was particularly impressed to find that two of the bedrooms were of equal size.”

Christian added: “As soon as I left the development, I looked up the reviews for Redrow online and was delighted to discover how many happy homeowners there are. I’m not an impulse buyer, but I knew immediately this was the property for me, and returned straight away to place my deposit, confident that I was in good hands.

“The Redrow team were incredibly helpful from start to finish and the Help to Buy scheme allowed me and my children to move into our new home extremely quickly.  Whether it was to offer guidance on the fixtures and fittings, or answer questions throughout the process, the team were always available at the end of the phone to help, even after completion.”

With the Help to Buy* scheme, buyers only need a deposit of five percent to secure a home. The government will then lend 20 percent of the overall cost of the property in the form of an equity loan, meaning movers will only need a 75 percent mortgage to make up the rest. The scheme allows people to have access to more affordable interest rates typically associated with a 25 percent deposit, and offers an accessible way to get onto the property ladder.

Christian’s home, The Kensington, is a four-bedroom property that’s as flexible as it is practical. Spanning across three floors, the spacious home is part of Redrow’s Heritage Collection, which brings together tradition and modern living to create a uniquely designed home that’s full of character. Two of the bedrooms boast an unsuited, and the balcony, situated off the lounge, is an added touch of luxury. On the ground floor, an open-plan kitchen/dining area provides a social space perfect for family life, while a separate lounge on the middle floor offers the perfect area to escape and relax.

For those who like the idea of three-storey living, the Grantham is also now available and offers three double rooms on the first floor, which offer the flexibility for bedrooms, office space or a playroom. A magnificent master suite can be found on the floor above, providing a spacious retreat. Designed with space and sociability in mind, this is the perfect home for a larger family, or anyone who is looking for additional rooms to meet their evolving needs.

Upon reopening last month, Badbury Park made a number of modifications to allow prospective house buyers to visit safely, including offering exclusive, unaccompanied slots for viewings, screening safety videos ahead of appointments, ensuring sales consultants are always two metres away from the customer, and installing protective screens and hand sanitiser throughout the sales centre. A thorough cleanse is performed after each appointment and opening hours have been extended to 7pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, to account for demand.

Situated on the edge of the picturesque Coate Water Country Park, yet within easy reach of both the M4 and Swindon town centre, Badbury Park is perfect for couples and families alike. With its own primary school, and just five minutes from a secondary school, the development is the perfect place to set up home.
