StartMeUp Pitch sets a challenge for budding Glasgow entrepreneurs

New competition for start-ups offers £10K office space prize

"Being in the right building, in the right location, can make a massive difference in successfully growing a business. Our previous StartMeUp winners have gone from strength to strength..."

A new competition is giving aspiring business owners the chance to win six months’ free office space, worth £10,000, at a prime address in Glasgow’s prestigious George Square.

The #StartMeUp Pitch, organised by serviced office provider Orega, invites start-up businesses and entrepreneurs to enter by writing a short business pitch and submitting it via their website by 13 September 2019. Five shortlisted candidates will be invited to pitch to a panel of judges at Orega Glasgow to win the office space at 9 George Square.

The lucky winner will receive their own four-person office for six months, complete with business broadband, a phone and business support from Orega.

The four runners-up will receive an Orega Virtual Office Pro package for six months.

The competition follows on from the success of Orega’s previous #StartMeUp Pitch initiatives in Aberdeen, Liverpool and Manchester.

Aberdeen winner Barry Leaper, co-founder of food allergy app LiberEat said: “It was a great experience pitching in the final of the Aberdeen competition and I’d advise anyone who’s tempted to enter Orega’s next one in Glasgow to do so. The opportunity to develop your elevator pitch and tell your business’s story in front of a panel of expert judges was invaluable – winning an office in a really nice building was the cherry on top.”

Suzanne Machray, Marketing Director at Orega, said: “We launched our Glasgow centre last year and we love being in the principal civic square of Scotland’s biggest city – it’s a prime location and the building combines a beautiful classical façade with stylish contemporary interior design.

“We know that being in the right building, in the right location, can make a massive difference in successfully growing a business. Our previous #StartMeUp winners have gone from strength to strength, thanks in part to having the right space and business support. So, if you think you have what it takes, please take a few minutes to enter the competition – you never know where it might take you.”

Full information on how to enter the #StartMeUp Pitch can be found on Orega’s website at www.orega.com/startmeup-glasgow. The closing date for competition entries is 13 September 2019, with pitches taking place the week commencing 07 October 2019.
