Spatial fits-out Camira's prestigious Clerkenwell showroom

"Camiras aim was to inspire creativity for designers and encourage collaboration of ideas by celebrating textile design, colour, patterns and trends. "
Paul Eatock, Spatial Office Environments

Clerkenwell is home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet, making it one of the most important design hubs in the world.

The new showroom, which fills the entire ground floor of the Poppy Building in the pedestrianised Brewhouse Yard, has been created to provide a dedicated, user-focused textile resource for fabric specifiers and designers. An open mezzanine floor overlooks the showroom's main collaboration counter - an ingeniously engineered counter infused with a reclaimed warp beam from Camira’s Huddersfield textile manufacturing operation - and the visual impact of the showroom and its displays is further maximised through the floor to ceiling glass façade of the building. The space has been specifically designed to showcase Camira’s fabrics yet be versatile and adaptive for collaborative working, seminars, workshops, parties and events.

Formed in 2014 by top furniture sales rep Paul Eatock, specialist CAD designer Elliott Pace, and building and construction expert, Phil Simmonds, Spatial Office Environments hit the ground running and has already achieved phenomenal growth. With a highly successful turnover of £1.2M in their first year, which grew to £1.7M in their second, the company is now on track to achieve an impressive £4M in 2016.

Spatial provides top quality interior solutions to a wide range of corporate and commercial clients. From offices and factories to public houses and police headquarters, their exponential growth is testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team.

Director of Sales, Paul Eatock, said: "From the offset, we wanted to be a forward-thinking company, believing that anything is possible. Our efficient internal working practices and supplier diversity are key assets. By utilising modern working methods, we are able to fulfil large orders easily and with minimal overheads. This means we can do incredible work at a fraction of the price of our nearest competitors."

Spatial worked alongside its preferred interior designer, Ingo Interiors, to create the quirky and fresh grand design for Camira. All new power, HVAC and ICT infrastructure was provided and the vast majority of the furnishings were bespoke.

Space was a premium, so to increase the usable capacity and to act as a main structural focal point, a large mezzanine floor with a custom made handrail and staircase was fabricated. Rest rooms, breakout and kitchen areas were also cleverly integrated so as to maximise the limited space

Paul, continued:“Camira’s aim was to inspire creativity for designers and encourage collaboration of ideas by celebrating textile design, colour, patterns and trends. The original space was simply a blank concrete slab from floor to ceiling - a small but perfect canvas onto which something beautiful could be built. The new space is unapologetic in its use of dramatic large scale fabric displays. Displays used to present the various unique products that Camira manufactures in all their glory."

Camira Fabrics is trusted, specified and chosen by the word’s top furniture manufacturers, interior specifiers and end-users, including HSBC, Google, Apple, Adobe, Microsoft and Facebook.

Camira’s Director of UK Sales Abdul Ali commented: We’re thrilled to be moving into such a fantastic new location which will make it so much more convenient for customers to be able to access our full range of fabrics, whether it’s just to pick up a few samples or develop and discuss projects with our own design team. Spatial and Ingo Interiors have done a great job in translating and then realising our concept into a flexible, functional but above all visually stunning showroom to give us a new permanent home in Brewhouse Yard.”

Paul added: After proving the quality of our work and competitiveness of our pricing, we were delighted to win the privilege of fitting out Camira's new showroom. We are so proud of being part of this prestigious project and even more so the end result - a wonderful showroom which is relaxed, colourful and beautiful."
