Your Housing Group completes homes in Chester

""

Local people in Chester will be getting keys to their new homes at The Tannery in Littleton this month. The development of nine affordable family homes is owned and managed by Your Housing Group, one of the UK’s largest housing associations.

The Tannery, on Littleton Lane, is on the former Littleton Hall Farm site and includes four three-bedroom and five two-bedroom houses, with five available for affordable rent and four for shared ownership.

The development is a joint initiative between Your Housing Group and Cheshire West and Chester Council and entirely funded by Your Housing group at a cost of more than £850,000. The contractor is Wigan-based MCI Developments.

Kathy Cowell, OBE DL Chair of Your Housing Group, said: “High quality, affordable family homes are much needed in Chester.  This new development in Littleton helps us realise our vision of ‘transforming your lives and your communities’, as well as enabling us to offer quality affordable homes for rent and shared ownership to local people. This scheme is part of Your Housing Group’s £150m affordable homes programme which will deliver nearly 1,400 new homes across the region by the Spring.”

"We are pleased to see that the development has replaced an ageing farm complex which was in danger of becoming abandoned:" added Littleton Parish Council Chairman Jonathan Bellis.

In the book In Littleton, A Brief History by Peter H. McCready, Littleton Hall Farm in the 18th century was described as a tannery and was known as Tanyard Farm with Tanyard Field adjoining the farm buildings.  Tanning was a thriving Cheshire industry in those days so it is believed the hides were brought there from the surrounding area for treatment.

Anyone interested in a Your Housing Group home at The Tannery should contact the sales team on 0845 618 5008 or visit www.yourhousinggroup.co.uk for more details.

The scheme will be completed by the end of this month.
