Newcastle City Council has granted approval for a café, the addition of 14 shipping containers, associated branding and rooftop terraces at Adderstone Group’s Baker’s Yard scheme, a 90,000 sq. ft business park comprising approximately 180 parking spaces and over 25 warehouses, offices and hybrid units on the site of the former HQ of Greggs the Bakers on Christon Road, near Gosforth High Street.

The site, which is already 60% let to a mix of industrial, office and leisure tenants, is due to be completed over the next 6 months.  These proposals will enable the installation of branded shipping containers across the site for uses including storage, breakout spaces for staff as well as a bike store and café to service tenants based on the park.

Adderstone Group has been working with Ryder Architecture, Youngs RPS and James Christopher Consulting on the containers and signage scheme and the approval for this element of the development has provided a significant boost for both Adderstone Group and the tenants operating from Baker’s Yard as the site nears completion.

Andy Kahn, MD of Adderstone Estates said: “This planning approval will enable us to deliver our bold vision for Baker’s Yard. We’re proud to see this once redundant site coming back to life. We’ve recently welcomed tenants including Solarglide, Document Solutions and Verisure who are all now operating from the park, with others in pipeline to follow.”

Businesses interested in becoming part of Baker’s Yard are encouraged to contact Adderstone Group on estatesenquiries@adderstonegroup.com or 0191 269 9944.
