Midlands apprentice named best in the region

"I'm always happy to help, and this is my way of contributing by building high-quality houses."
Thomas Morgan

An apprentice has been named best in the Midlands by a local housebuilder.

Thomas Morgan, based at Wellington Place, in Fradley, scooped the Redrow Homes Midlands’ Apprentice of the Year title, thanks to his commitment and hard work.

After leaving school at 16, Thomas gained his first job at a golf course where he enjoyed the work, but felt something was missing.

After realising he wanted to be able to progress in a lifelong career, he was inspired by the quality of Redrow Homes and so joined the housebuilding industry. A keen learner, he enjoys gaining new skills in multiple trades, and loves the sense of satisfaction that comes with completing a house.

Thomas’ dedication and passion hasn’t gone unnoticed; on the 1st October, he moved up to a trainee assistant site manager position. His goal is to become a manager and take the new apprentices under his wing.

Thomas said: “It is an honour to be named apprentice of the year for the Midlands, and I’m delighted that my hard work has been recognised. I find it incredibly satisfying to look back after completing a job and be proud of what I have helped to create. Working for Redrow Homes has allowed me to start a career doing something that I love, it’s great to be able to learn about different trades each day, and to have the support available from the rest of the team to help me continue to progress.

“Every day I hear people talk about houses and the lack of them – that’s what attracted me to the industry, it’s wonderful to know that every house that we build becomes someone’s home. I'm always happy to help, and this is my way of contributing – by building high-quality houses. I look forward to continue to create thriving communities for Redrow Homes in my new role as a trainee assistant site manager.”

Graham Micklewright, Managing Director for Redrow Midlands, said: “From cleaning up, to erecting a roof, Thomas takes great pride in his work, and always ensures everything he does is of the highest possible standard.

“It’s wonderful that Thomas has been recognised for his hard work and dedication – we are incredibly proud of his achievements, including his well-deserved recent promotion. Well done Thomas!”
