Seven-year-old Derby BMX prodigy, Ethan Rodgers, has secured a three-year sponsorship deal with Countryside, UK’s leading mixed-tenture developer, which recently launched its East Midlands region.

As part of the sponsorship package, Countryside has provided Ethan with new race jerseys and will be contributing towards his equipment.

The homebuilder also has plans to pay tribute to the young athlete with a BMX themed bedroom in its first ever East Midlands show home, which is due to launch this summer in Grantham.

Glyn Mabey, Managing Director, Partnerships East Midlands, Countryside, commented: “We feel extremely proud to be sponsoring Ethan as he prepares for another eventful year of competitive BMX racing. He’s a very talented young man and it’s extremely rewarding for us to be a part of his journey by providing the financial security he needs to thrive. We look forward to being able to share the success he will no doubt achieve in 2020.”

Ethan’s father, Matthew Rodgers, added: “We’ve experienced a lot of support from our local community for Ethan, and his family and friends are incredibly proud of what he has achieved. It’s great to see Ethan excel at the sport he loves and we’re all really excited for the year ahead. Currently, he’s on track to qualify for next year’s European and World Championships, representing Team GB. This has now been made more achievable thanks to the support from Countryside.”

Competitively racing since the age of five, Ethan has quickly risen up the ranks to become one of the best young racers in the UK.

For two consecutive years, Ethan has been crowned the Midlands Champion and is currently ranked ‘third in the UK’, after finishing third in both the 2018 and 2019 British Championships. Last year he also competed in the European Cup, in Belgium, placing second and then third in the final rounds.

This year, he has his sights set on qualifying to represent Team GB in the 2021 World Championships. Those interested in following Ethan’s progress can find him on Instagram, @ethanr134.
