Avant Homes teaches school children about housebuilding health and safety

"In addition to producing high-quality new homes, we commit to becoming a part of every community we build in by contributing and taking part in local initiatives and projects."

Midlands housebuilder Avant Homes has delivered a lesson with a difference as local school children pay a visit to Brailsford’s Cotton Yard development to learn all about health and safety in housebuilding and building sites.

The pupils, aged seven to nine-years-old, from Brailsford C of E Primary School had the opportunity to meet staff from the sales, marketing and construction teams at Cotton Yard while being taught about Avant Homes different housetypes, how they’re built and what happens in and around the building site.

Located just of the A52 main road in Brailsford, the 75-home Cotton Yard development offers a collection of two, three and four-bedroom properties. The showhomes were recently unveiled to potential purchasers and four and five-bedroom homes are currently available to buy with prices starting from £338,000 for a four-bedroom detached home to £437,000 for a five-bedroom property with a double garage.

Brailsford C of E Primary School class teacher, Mrs Cartwright, said: “Health and safety is an extremely important lesson to teach youngsters, so to be able to hear first-hand from the experts at Avant Homes is a great experience for our pupils.

“We had the chance to see every aspect of what it takes to bring a housing development together including the construction, sales centre and the showhomes, and the children especially enjoyed stepping into the building site with their Avant Homes hard hats. Thank you to Avant Homes for delivering such an interesting session to our pupils at Brailsford C of E Primary School.”

Avant Homes Midlands sales and marketing director, Debby Pavitt, said: “In addition to producing high-quality new homes, we commit to becoming a part of every community we build in by contributing and taking part in local initiatives and projects.

“With Brailsford C of E Primary School being so close to our Cotton Yard development, we felt it was essential to help teach the pupils about the housebuilding industry and the health and safety risks of building sites.”

Avant Homes Cotton Yard development is situated in the picturesque village of Brailsford close to a number of local amenities including a café, convenience store, pub and post office. The development is also in close proximity to excellent transport links to Ashbourne, Derby and the Peak District.

Each design-led home is complete with Avant Homes’ exclusive high-quality specification, which features bespoke designer kitchens with fully integrated appliances, full-height tiled bathrooms, open-plan living spaces with bi-fold doors and Hive Smart Energy Active Heating System, as standard.
