New customisable homes are coming to Northstowe for sale this weekend, putting the design decisions in the hands of customers for the first time.
Modern housebuilder House by Urban Splash, is launching the first of its Town House homes for sale at ‘Inholm’ a new urban village area being built on Saturday 19th September and now, thanks to new gaming technology, customers can start designing their dream homes from their armchair, before reserving their plot. A first for Cambridgeshire, the developer will also launch its new semi-detached Town House on the day.
Guy Ackernley, Urban Splash residential director explained: “We are delighted to bring these homes to Cambridgeshire. We’ve all spent a lot of time in our homes this year and that’s led to many people reconsidering the spaces they live in; what we have here is the chance for buyers to create a home that really works for them and their family.”
Homes can be customised ahead of the launch using an online configurator; an industry-first, it uses gaming technology, via which customers can choose a floorplan; from the number of preferred bedrooms, to whether they want living spaces upstairs or down. All of the homes come with extra high ceilings, oversized windows and a flexible layout which can be changed over time.
Guy continues: “Self-build projects are often cost-prohibitive, so our online configurator is our way of bringing choice and flexibility to our customers. We’re seeing more and more buyers using the configurator to design a home that gives them a tailored space, one in which every square metre is purposeful and built around their needs.
“At the core of our business is our ‘Live Well by Design’ philosophy, and while this design approach was established long before Covid-19, the pandemic has accelerated the changes in priorities and lifestyles we sought to pre-empt. The importance of well-designed homes, with flexible layouts to suit the individual’s needs and plenty of light and space has become more obvious to us all. What makes these homes even more appealing is that, thanks to non-load bearing internal walls, the layout can be changed again over time so customers can add studies, nurseries and bedrooms as their circumstances change. We are excited to be launching this concept in Cambridgeshire for the first time.”
In another tech first, customers who can’t make the launch on 19th September can still view the homes thanks to the company’s virtual viewings where buyers can book an appointment to be given a virtual tour by the sales team, where they’ll be able to view videos and 360-views of homes from the comfort of their four walls.

The result is a fully immersive virtual viewing experience for customers wishing to view properties from their current home. House by Urban Splash has already created its award-winning, customisable homes at New Islington in Manchester, Port Loop in Birmingham, Smith’s Dock in North Shields and Irwell Riverside in Salford. The semi-detached home is a brand new house type which has not been launched at any other development.
