First modular show homes unveiled at Northstowe.

Buyers in Cambridgeshire will get a glimpse inside the first ever modular homes at Northstowe, as two new show homes are unveiled at the House by Urban Splash Inholm neighbourhood.

First modular show homes unveiled at Northstowe.

"In the past year, our lives have largely been lived at home, and makeshift offices, entertaining spaces and outdoor space aren't sustainable in the long-term."
Guy Ackernley, residential director

Inholm is a brand-new quarter for Northstowe – a new town comprising a Primary, Secondary and Area Special School, new parks, an outdoor gym, excellent transport connections and two new waterparks, which will host a range of water and land-based activities for outdoor fun and wellbeing.

While traditional housing dominates other areas of Northstowe, the Inholm quarter is all about customer choice, with buyers able to choose from a range of homes that best suit their lifestyle. The homes have been created with six different layouts at Inholm, and crucially, each home’s non-load bearing walls mean that any decisions made now can be swiftly changed in the future and the space reconfigured in line with residents’ changing needs.

Guy Ackernley, House by Urban Splash residential director explained: “In the past year, our lives have largely been lived at home, and makeshift offices, entertaining spaces and outdoor space aren’t sustainable in the long-term.

“What we’ve done at Inholm is given our customer’s choice, with a range of layouts to suit a range of lifestyles. Our new show homes demonstrate this, each showing flexible spaces that can be used as places to sleep, work, entertain, play and study – but with an inherent design that means this can be changed in the future.”

This weekend (Saturday 26 June) the doors of the two new show homes will open. The first shows the ‘garden living’ traditional layout, with living areas and an open plan kitchen downstairs, a bedroom, bathroom, snug/home office on the second floor and a master suite and guest bedroom both with en-suite bathrooms on the top floor.

The neighbouring ‘loft living’ home shows how the downstairs can be used for sleeping, with three bedrooms, while the upper floors offer living space, including a grand entertaining space, open plan kitchen and large dining table. These layouts in particular take advantage of the fantastic water park and landscape beyond.

Both homes comprise 2.6metre high ceilings, oversized windows – offering views across the adjacent waterparks and open countryside – and a generous 139 sq m of total space.

The houses also offer exceptional finishes as standard, high-speed broadband and energy-efficient heating - all high requirements for modern living and hybrid working. They all come with a private bike store and parking.

Interior Designer for House by Urban Splash, Rachel Thomas, explains how the interior styling of the garden living Town House is centred around family life;

“The wooden storage unit with seating by the door is where you’d help your child put on their coats and wellies ready for a walk around the waterpark.

We added baking utensils and a recipe book to the white, glossy kitchen island, and placed a little stool by its side so little hands can help out too.”

The space also fits a large dining table for Sunday lunches with the whole family and in the living space – colourful splashes of royal blue and soft pinks, with playful jigsaws, games, and colourful artwork. The 3-storey homes have plenty of space and light for all a family could need.”

Rachel continues:

“One floor up, and the first room you’ll arrive at is the family snug and home office where you can work from home, read, or relax away from the main living space downstairs.  Showcasing just how much room you have to play with here, we added a full-sized desk, a library wall with a modern, rocking reading chair, a sofa bed, and a soft cushioned seat from Japan positioned just by the entrance to the balcony.

There’s also a second, middle-floor bedroom and bathroom, and then up on the top  floor is a bedroom plus master bedroom both with shower ensuites.  The master bedroom is spacious and bright, with tons of light pouring in from the room’s key feature – a walk-in window overlooking fields of greenery.”

Northstowe is a thriving community with so much going on and several hundred homes already here. There's the weekly food and drinks vans courtesy of 'Northstowe Foodies' and lots of active community groups to get involved in and new sports and education facilities and speedy new public transport connections to nearby Cambridge and London via the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.

Now is the time to get in early and be a founding member of an example of a new truly sustainable place to live, work and play.
