Manchester content agency marks fifth birthday with rebrand

"Our identity which sums up everything that MYC stands for and how we elevate the brands we work with is set to propel our growth throughout 2019."
Kelly Gilmour-Grassam

One of Manchester’s leading content agencies – founded by entrepreneur Kelly Gilmour-Grassam – is celebrating its fifth birthday on Friday 8th March. The date – which coincides with International Women’s Day – is being marked by a rebrand, on the back of significant business growth.

Making You Content was founded in 2014 as a one-woman-band. Earlier this month, Kelly welcomed her eighth employee, tripling the firm’s headcount in the past 12 months alone; while doubling turnover year-on-year, since 2016. The rebrand is now live; and is said to reflect the business’ progression.

Lucy Acton, who has joined the organisation as editor, was formerly head of content at Iceberg Digital.

Talking of this pivotal point in her business, Kelly said: “The last five years have been brilliant; we’ve grown significantly, and we now support over 50 clients with their content requirements. We’ve come a long way since I started out as a freelancer in 2014. Our rebrand captures how MYC has matured doing that time.

“But it’s not been easy to get to this point. The statistics show that only one in five start-ups manage to make it past their fifth year – and the number of women who are involved in enterprise activity is half that of men. So, it feels extremely fitting that we’re able to celebrate our fifth birthday, on International Women’s Day. Both the women and men in our team are brilliant, and are testament to our growth, particularly within the past 12 months.”

Further expansion is also expected throughout 2019, on the back of the rebrand – which was carried out by Electric Circus.

“Our identity – which sums up everything that MYC stands for; and how we elevate the brands we work with – is set to propel our growth throughout 2019. We’ve invested heavily in the improvement of our business; including new services, such as strategy creation, and we expect to take on additional clients over the next few months,” Kelly finished.

Making You Content is expected to recruit three more team members in 2019. The firm works with organisations such as Manchester Metropolitan University, the NHS and Fatsoma.
