Shirehampton nursery celebrates Good Ofsted result

"We always try to encourage a fun, caring home-from-home experience for our children."
Nicola Lane

A day nursery in Shirehampton is celebrating its ‘Good’ Ofsted rating following its latest inspection by the governing body.

Mama Bear’s Day Nursery & Pre-School in Grove Leaze, Shirehampton was rated Good in all areas including management, teaching, personal development, behaviour, welfare and outcomes for children.

Staff at the nursery have been praised for their patience and responsive support of children, with the report saying they are kind, friendly and attentive to children’s needs. Detailed observations are used to identify next steps in the children’s learning and partnerships with

parents are good.

Mama Bear’s Shirehampton Nursery Manager, Nicola Lane, said: “We are thrilled to have been awarded a Good Ofsted rating and very proud to receive such a glowing report.

“The inspector said that our team is enthusiastic and our children enjoy their time at nursery, they grow in confidence and their well-being is supported effectively. This is lovely to hear as we always try to encourage a fun, caring home-from-home experience for our children.

“We were also pleased that the report highlighted the way we partner with our parents and it’s great to hear that parents commented positively on our communication and that our daily updates and regular chats keep them well informed.

“It’s great to be recognised for our hard work and the whole team is pleased to have retained our Good rating.”

Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-school in Shirehampton is based in a wonderful 19th century farmhouse just off the A4 Portway, close to the M5 and Avonmouth 902 Park & Ride.

The setting benefits from the addition of a large hall as well as a large garden meaning babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers have a much wider range of activities available to them including physical movement activities.

The nursery has designated rooms for each age-group, three garden areas – the baby garden, the back garden with a secret tunnel and the front garden which includes a ‘wild corner’.

The family-run Mama Bear’s Day Nurseries provide care for children from three months to five years. There are now 23 settings across Somerset, Bristol and Devon.

The Shirehampton nursery currently has spaces available for all age-groups so if you are looking for a nursery or pre-school and would like to arrange a show-around please get in touch.
