Lord Mayor visits Bristol nursery children

"It was a lovely morning and wed like to thank the Lord Mayor for being so gracious in answering all of the childrens many questions!"
Emma Cumming

Children at a Brislington nursery received a very special visit recently from The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Bristol, Councillor Jos Clark.

During the visit to the Mama Bear’s Day Nursery & Pre-School in Allison Road the Lord Mayor talked to the children about healthy living and encouraged them to cycle around Bristol.

The Lord Mayor was given a tour of the nursery and children presented her with some flowers. She was also able to meet Mama Bear herself!

The children then grilled their visitor on everything from what her number plate means to what her favourite food is.

Mama Bear’s Allison Road Nursery Manager Emma Cumming said: “We all enjoyed a lovely visit with The Lord Mayor, the children absolutely loved having a VIP come to visit and were all thoroughly excited to find out more about her and her job.

“The children found out what the Lord Mayor does, why she has a flag on her car, where she lives and all about the feathers on the Lord Mayor’s hat, which they said looked like a pirate hat! We also learnt how the Lord Mayor makes Bristol a great place to live.

“When we started speaking about cycling and healthy living the children spoke about their bikes at home and how much they like them.

“It was a lovely morning and we’d like to thank the Lord Mayor for being so gracious in answering all of the children’s many questions!”

Mama Bear’s Day Nursery is a family-run business with settings across Bristol, Somerset and Devon. The day nurseries are aimed at providing children with their first vital level of education to give them a head-start when they start at primary school.
