Bracknell school children get crafty for new care home

Local school children have created eye-catching artwork to decorate the marketing suite of Bracknell’s newest care home.

Students from Sandy Lane Primary School were invited by Care UK to get creative with a piece of artwork around the theme of ‘who do you care about?’. The artwork is now on display in the marketing suite of Care UK’s Bickerton House, on Warfield Road, as the care home begins to take shape.

The children who designed the artwork had the opportunity to meet the home manager, Erika Smith, and ask her questions about the new care home.

The multi-million pound purpose-built home, which will provide full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 77 older people in Bracknell, is due to open December 2019.

Erika Smith, home manager for Bickerton House, said: “We were delighted to be able to collaborate with Sandy Lane Primary School on a lovely art project to brighten up our marketing suite.

“It was great to welcome the children to see their pictures displayed and we look forward to working with the school on future projects.”

Samantha Morrissy, teacher at the school, added: “We were thrilled when Care UK asked us to be part of their exciting new venture here in Bracknell. The children had a great time creating the artwork, and it’s fantastic that it is now being displayed for all the community to see.”

The marketing suite opened at Bickerton House on Monday 16th September, Monday to Friday 10-4pm. Bracknell locals are invited to come and take a look around the new home.

Opening December 2019, the purpose-built care home has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The home will provide full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, and will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and will include its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
