""

Angus Macalister and Luke Gilfedder – former students at The Manchester Grammar School (MGS) have teamed up with Rohan Takier, a current student in the School’s Sixth Form, to take a new production to the Manchester stage next week.

Following their departure from MGS two years ago,20-year-old Wilmslow-boy Angus and Luke – a 20-year-old budding playwrite from Padgate – set up their own theatre group called Finn Youth Productions.

The company has since put on 14 shows and this latest performance will be shown at Princess Street theatre – the Joshua Brooks. 'Vampire by implication' is the a story of a young vampire named Edgar London, as Luke explains: “This play is fascinating and will satisfy the demands of those who’ve been gripped by the increasing number of shows and films from this genre such as The Twighlit Saga and The Vampire Diaries.

“It sees the young vampire Edgar cast out from his family and hometown into the night. Determined to find his way back into society though he embarks upon an interesting journey.”

Angus Macalister plays Edgar while current MGS student Rohan Takiar will star as Professor Stelian, a lecturer in Vampire Mythology. Speaking of his role the 17-year-old student who also lives in Wilmslow said: “I am delighted with this role and to be working with Angus and Luke whose recent reputation in theatre is very impressive.”

Finn Youth group has performed previously staged productions at the Royal Exchange, the new Manchester Grammar School theatre and most recently in London’s West End when their production was backed by another MGS stalwart; Sir Nicholas Hytner.

Concluded MGS Head of Drama Matthew Nichols: “This is a great example of the strong dramatic tradition at MGS, and is typical of former students wanting to provide opportunities for current students.  Rohan is a gifted and talented performer, and I wish him every success in this new venture, and am really looking forward to seeing it next week.”

Finn Youth will be at the Joshua Brooks on Saturday 22nd March 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £5 and available on the door or to reserve at 01625 527 398.
