A HEALTH and wellbeing festival is set to return for the second time after being hailed a huge success in its inaugural year.

Emma Grunnill, who is based in Kirkby Lonsdale, launched the festival last summer after taking inspiration from similar events around the UK.

The event, which was the first of its kind in the area, sold out completely. Due to its popularity, Emma has expanded to a larger location, allowing 500 guests to enjoy the festival this year – compared to 100 last year.

WellFest takes place on Sunday 7th July, from 10am to 4pm, at Westmorland County Showground. General admission tickets cost £15, and guests can pre-book individual classes for £5.50 each. The event will also raise money for two charities – Mind and Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Emma, who works as a personal trainer through her business Emma Grunnill Fitness, said: “Last year, I had lots of great feedback from people saying they loved the day. Each person I spoke to was trying something new. There was a great atmosphere and everybody was chatting – nobody was stood on their own, even if they had arrived on their own. Everyone completely embraced it together.

“My aims for WellFest are to break down the stigma around mental health, encourage people to get outdoors and embrace the elements – and ultimately, leave people feeling empowered, confident and well.

“This year, the festival is five times the size, and everyone is welcome to come along – whether you’re a complete beginner or a fitness fanatic – there really is something for everyone.”

A host of local health and fitness experts have been confirmed for the festival, including Yogi in The Lakes, Coreworx Gym, Sarah Brook Fitness, Westmorland Crossfit, VB Pilates, Ride Bikes and Jogging Pals. They will be running sessions such as yoga, pilates, boxercise, meditation, bootcamp and Zumba, plus much more.

Guests will have the chance to sample a variety of healthy treats from local food and drink brands, such as The Little Barn, Beans and Lentils, The Milking Parlour, Bakes and Balls, and Smoke BBQ Events.

Together with exercise sessions and healthy food and drink produce, ticket-holders can also enjoy talks from guest speakers, an exhibition area and free taster sessions, such as sports massage and facials.
