A personal trainer is set to launch a fitness festival at the end of this month, which will be the first of its kind in the area.

Cumbria personal trainer launches area's first fitness festival

"This will be the first of its kind in the area and I'm really excited to have the opportunity to bring together a group of people who are interested in health and wellness in Cumbria. "
Emma Grunnill

Taking inspiration from popular festivals around the UK, Emma Grunnill decided to organise her own event.

The event, called Health & Wellness Festival, takes place at Kitridding Farm, near Kirkby Lonsdale, on Sunday 29th July from 12:30pm to 4pm. Tickets are on sale for £10, with a free goodie bag worth £50 for the first 50 tickets.

Emma Grunnill, who works as a personal trainer through her business Emma Grunnill Fitness, said: “I recently attended Balance Festival in London which was a brilliant event for anybody interested in health and wellbeing. I’d been thinking about organising a similar event for a while as they all tend to take place down south, with nothing really nearby. When I floated the idea with a few of my clients the feedback I received was all really positive, so I decided to go for it.”

A host of local experts are set to take part in the festival, with sessions such as boxercise, pilates, yoga, HIIT (high intensity interval training) and circuits planned for the event.

Guests will have the chance to sample a variety of healthy treats from local food and drink brands, such as Whin Yeats Dairy, Kircabi Roasters, The Healthy Food Lab and Kitridding Farm’s own produce.

Emma added: “This will be the first of its kind in the area and I’m really excited to have the opportunity to bring together a group of people who are interested in health and wellness in Cumbria. Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or you’re just wanting to take that first step, everyone is more than welcome to come along and have a go at some of the classes and enjoy the delicious refreshments on offer.

“As a personal trainer, my passion has always been to encourage people to have the confidence to be as healthy as they can be. I work with clients in all different circumstances – from new mums on maternity leave to elderly clients wanting to improve their mobility. There’s no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to wellness, it’s about doing what works best for you personally, and I hope this event will be the first step in spreading that message.”
