Zip World mastermind the only North Wales director shortlisted at IoD awards

""

The entrepreneur behind three of North Wales’ most popular thrill attractions has been praised for his ‘creativity’ and ‘leadership’ ahead of the Institute of Director’s (IoD) director of the year awards.

Sean Taylor, the brain behind Zip World, Bounce Below and Tree Top Adventure, Snowdonia, is the only North Wales-based director to be shortlisted. The Conwy Valley-born business leader is in the leadership in corporate responsibility director of the year category.

The former Royal Marine skydiver and jungle warfare instructor triumphed at the IoD Wales director of the year awards earlier this year, winning the talent and innovation category, and will be looking to continue that success at the national awards.

The leadership in corporate responsibility director of the year category recognises individuals who, through their direct actions and leadership, make a positive impact on the local community, wider society or the environment.

Chair of the IoD’s North Wales branch, Helen Watson, said: “Sean epitomises everything the IoD looks for when shortlisting candidates for its awards.
“He has the creativity to conjure up ideas, and the entrepreneurial spirit to turn them into reality.

“Sean also displays brilliant leadership skills, ensuring his team and those around him are fully behind his vision.

“Everyone at IoD North Wales wishes him the best of luck.”

Sean, who was the guest speaker at an IoD networking event in February, is on the shortlist with six other directors, with the winner crowned at an awards ceremony on 23 October at the Lancaster Hotel in London.

He said: “The award shortlist is fantastic recognition, not just for me, but for my entire team.

“Any successful business leader has a supportive team and network of contacts, and I am no different.

“Winning a regional IoD award earlier this year meant a lot, and to win one of its national awards would be incredible.”

Helen added: “North Wales has many excellent directors and business leaders, and it would be fantastic to see more directors from the region on the national shortlist next year.

“Anyone interested in joining the IoD should contact iod.wales@iod.com.
