Residents in Evesham and surrounding areas are being encouraged to donate their unwanted motor vehicles to Evesham College to help drive the next generation of skilled mechanics.
Students at Evesham College, part of the WCG Group, require a range of vehicles and parts to develop their skills on the path to becoming qualified mechanics.
To that end, Evesham College has issued a call for any unwanted vehicles to be donated to support its motor vehicles courses.
The appeal follows a similar initiative launched at WCG Group’s Trident College in Warwick in 2019 which has proved to be a tremendous success.
Lee Kirk, Head of Motor Vehicle Department at WCG, said: “Evesham College continues to experience high demand for Motor Vehicle courses and it is vital that we have the resources to meet this demand.
“As the saying goes, ‘one man’s rubbish is another man’s gold’. We are inviting residents to donate any unwanted vehicles – no matter their age or condition – to Evesham College where they will be put to good use.
“Whether it’s a car that has failed its MOT or a rust bucket that has seen better days, by donating it to the college the owner will be helping to nurture the next generation of mechanics in the region.”
Anyone interested in donating is urged to contact Evesham College’s Motor Vehicle Department. Owners will have the opportunity to donate their vehicles directly to the college or, if the vehicle is not roadworthy, Evesham College can arrange for it to be collected.
Evesham College’s Motor Vehicle Department hopes that the initiative will result in a range of vehicles being donated.
Lee added: “The automotive sector is rapidly diversifying – as demonstrated by the emergence of new hybrid and electric vehicles – and it is important that our mechanics students are skilled in these areas.
“Having access to a variety of motor vehicles will help to broaden our students’ knowledge and expertise and will play an important role in training a new crop of mechanics in Evesham and surrounding areas.”
