Discover Your Mexico with Travel Company CEO

Travel expert and Blue Bay Travel CEO Stuart lets you in on the secrets that make Mexico mean so much, to so many.

Discover Your Mexico with Travel Company CEO

"Mexico offers so much all year round. I like to try something new every time I go and love the vibrant culture and warm welcome."
Stuart Wilson, CEO Blue Bay Travel

Stuart Wilson, founder and CEO of long haul specialist Blue Bay Travel, shares his insider knowledge of Eastern Mexico to help you get the most from your trip.

With over 60 visits under his belt, Stuart is a devotee of the real Mexico and all its beguiling beauty. This experience and enthusiasm, coupled with the help of our expert Personal Travel Advisors, means we can offer you a unique and personalised experience of Mexico.

First touching down on Mexico soil in 1998, Stuart is a frequent visitor to the country and he is not alone. Between 2012 and 2016 experts noticed a 67.9% increase in UK holidaymakers jetting off to Mexico. So what keeps holidaymakers coming back each year? “Mexico offers so much all year round,” said Stuart passionately. “I like to try something new every time I go and love the vibrant culture and warm welcome.”

If you’re looking for sunshine and heat, January to March is the perfect time to visit this beautiful destination with its picture perfect beaches and world famous diving. The towns are alive with activity as carnival season gets underway. Streets packed with all the colours, sights, sounds and smells of Mexico are a real treat for anyone who has the chance to soak it all up. Lucky visitors to Mexico’s central regions might also catch a glimpse of the astonishing butterfly migration in January and February, which sees millions of Monarch butterflies begin their journey to northern Canada.

Follow in our CEO’s usual footsteps and immerse yourself in a calmer side of Mexico during November and December. A quieter atmosphere prevails, with cooler evenings and earlier sunsets making this Stuart’s favourite time to travel. Take advantage of the milder weather as you explore the magical towns and villages, worlds away from the bustling, coastal resorts. Stuart advises visitors to pack mosquito repellent to help ensure the cool evenings are truly relaxing.

Quintana Roo, home of the city of Cancún, the islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres, features some of the highest quality and best value all inclusive hotels in the world. Isla Mujeres promises an authentic Mexican experience with island serenity and breathtaking landscapes. Located just off the Caribbean coastline of Cancun, the island is home to MUSA - the unique underwater museum, an innovative project designed to offset the effects of climate change with spectacular underwater sculptures. Playa Norte on the North side of the island is one of the best beaches in the whole of Mexico and with its opaline sand and crystal clear water, it is easy to see why.

Mexico offers a range of contemporary activities designed to give you a truly immersive experience, from zip-wires to diving. “If you choose just one excursion in Mexico during your stay, for me, Xel Ha offers the best overall experience” said Stuart. Considered a natural wonder, Xel Ha is an ecological water park offering scuba diving, snorkelling and a variety of high octane or more relaxed aquatic activities in the tranquil surroundings of the Riviera Maya. For an extra tip, combine it with a visit to the Tulum archaeological ruins and experience an insight into Mexican history.

Having just returned from another visit to his beloved holiday haunt and still glowing from the winter sun Stuart said, “Like many of our clients, I see Mexico as my second home. You won’t be disappointed.”
