"Each morning, as part of the arena health check, staff have to put the inflatables to the test. And we like to think its a fun way to start any working day."
Matt Ball, founder of Inflata Nation
A NEW indoor inflatable theme park has created 30 jobs - and it could be the best workplace in Peterborough.
Upcoming attraction Inflata Nation is due to open next month (December) at the Peterborough One Retail Park, on Eye Road.
It offers 14,000 square feet of wall-to-wall inflatables, with the bouncy features suitable for both kids and ‘big kid’ adults.
The park’s owners have already taken-on 30 members of staff to look after customers as they enjoy themselves on the arena, and to also man the centre’s cafe.
As an added perk, staff are also required to ‘test’ the inflatables every day before members of the public arrive.
And that means hurtling down giant slides, leaping into ball pools and running through an obstacle course - all in the name of work.
Inflata founder Matt Ball said: “We always want enthusiastic and personable staff that can demonstrate great customer service and who are not afraid to work hard.
“But we like to create a great working environment.
“Each morning, as part of the arena ‘health check’, staff have to put the inflatables to the test. And we like to think it’s a fun way to start any working day.”
While most of the new positions have already been filled, the Inflata team say it’s likely they’ll look to recruit further once the centre is up and running.
The site itself will take over a building recently vacated by Cotswold Outdoor and it’s due to officially launch in the first weeks of December - with a precise date still to be announced as they wrap the final renovation work.
Matt Ball adds: “We’ve created more than 30 jobs so far and we’re delighted to be establishing a centre in Peterborough - with what we believe is Cambridgeshire’s first-ever indoor inflatable theme park.
“While we were initially due to open in November, we have unfortunately been forced to delay the launch as we put the final finishing touches to the arena.
“But we plan to throw open the doors in the run up to the festive season - giving Christmas shoppers somewhere to escape to once they’re through with the present hunting!”
Inflata Nation itself is a national franchise, with other outlets in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, West Bromwich and Runcorn - with a further site due to launch in Telford, Shropshire, later this year.
And it’s also proved popular with celebs, attracting stars such as Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh and Samia Longchambon, Love Island’s Tom Walker, and Geordie Shore’s Chloe Ferry.
Prices start at £5.99 for under-4s to bounce for an hour, while everyone else pays £9.99 for an hour.
Spectators, non-walkers and babies in arms go in free of charge, while there will also be a cafe serving hot and cold food on site.
Paul Dunn, Asset Manager for Peterborough One Retail Park said: “We are delighted to have this unique leisure offer here at Peterborough One. The feedback we have received from other tenants and local people has been nothing short of fantastic. This is an integral part of our plan to maintain vibrancy here on this well-loved retail park ”
Inflata co-founder Michelle Ball says the Peterborough site will be unique.
She explains: "We love to see people of all ages having great fun and enjoying themselves in our centres, and we get tremendous satisfaction opening in new locations.
“We are strongly represented in the north of England and in Scotland, and now we’re expanding rapidly in the Midlands.”
