Slater and Gordon is growing its Edinburgh office.

Senior litigation executive Nigel Longden and litigation executive Peter Ogilvie have joined the personal injury team, while Karyn McPhee has been promoted to principal legal executive.

Just two years after joining the city centre firm, clinical negligence solicitor Sarah McWhirter has also been made senior associate.

At the time, she was the only member of staff working on clinical negligence but has now grown an experienced team dealing with a variety of work including amputation, delayed diagnoses and birth injuries.

The team includes newly qualified solicitor Claire Paterson, who qualified into the clinical negligence team at the beginning of June.

Mrs McWhirter said: “I am particularly delighted that Claire has qualified into the team. Claire has been an important part of the firm for the last few years.

“She has an aptitude for dealing with complex cases and is already popular with clients so will be a valuable addition”.

Stuart Cochran, head of the Edinburgh office, added: “It’s great to be growing the different teams and office as a whole. The promotions are also heartening and well deserved.

“Karyn has been a dedicated member of staff for many years, while Sarah has come on board in the last two years and made real progress in this short time”.
