"It has been an incredibly strong year for the Manchester office."
Over the last five years the firm has seen a growth of 46 per cent with revenues increasing by £23m.
The firm, which moved to its new 11,055 sq ft offices at No.1 Spinningfields in December 2017, attributes the growth of its North West operation to its a growing client base, key sectors including education, healthcare, property and employment and investment in service delivery.
In the last 12 months, Browne Jacobson has been actively investing in people across its five offices. The firm’s commitment to expanding its offering in the North West has seen the number of employees at the Manchester office grow by 32 per cent in the last 12 months.
This follows a firm-wide strategic recruitment drive, which welcomed eight new partners nationally, including public sector specialist Michael Mousdale and banking and finance partner Jonathan Edwards in Manchester.
The year also saw the firm announce new head and deputy head of office roles for each of its five locations, introduce a new role of legal director which to date has seen 11 associates promoted to the position, seven partner and 19 associate promotions and 19 trainees joining the firm in 2017/18.
Key recent client wins for the firm nationally included being re-appointed to NHS Resolution, Homes England’s national legal services framework and the EM Lawshare framework, as well as adding new clients Addo Food Group, Metro Bank, Tech Data, Top Cashback, Centrica, Shawbrook Bank and HSBC to its roster.
Iain Blatherwick, managing partner at Browne Jacobson, said: “When you consider the challenges faced by the UK economy, we are pleased with the strong growth we have delivered in what clearly remains a tough trading environment for many of our clients and competitors.
“In line with our growth strategy we have continued to invest in key areas of the business whilst ensuring we deliver exceptional client service. A prime example is our recent move to new offices at No1 Spinningfields in Manchester.
“Whilst we expect the coming year to remain highly competitive, we will continue to invest in people and our healthy work pipeline across our key sectors gives us the confidence that we can continue with this positive growth trajectory.”
Amanda Callaghan, partner and newly appointed head of Manchester, added: “Our recent move to No.1 Spinningfields and the number of high-level appointments we’ve made as a result, has played a major role in the great strides which the firm has made in the last year.
“The office has been one of the fastest growing across our network and we have a strong platform on which to build on this further.
“The North West is an important market and a key growth area for us, and we aim to continue to invest in the best legal talent and deliver exceptional client service in order to create a top-tier practice in Manchester”
