The law firm began in London during 2014 and opened its Manchester office earlier this year, specialising in intellectual property, sport and commercial work. Clients range from brands such as Microsoft and BMW to David Haye and Queens Park Rangers. The firm also acts for a number of fast growth technology businesses.

It is the first time the firm has partnered with Sale Sharks as shirt sleeve sponsor for the 2016/2017 season. Commenting on the deal, head of the Manchester office Michael Forrester said: “A key reason for opening a Manchester base is to work with more leading local businesses, particularly in brand heavy industries such as sport, fashion and technology. Our clients are ambitious and often growing rapidly, which fits perfectly with the club’s ethos and impressive plans for the future. It is exciting to be part of the new era at Sharks and an ideal way for us to grow our profile within the Northern business community.”

 

Sale Sharks’ Commercial Director and Club Ambassador Mark Cueto said:“The importance of brands within sport is increasing all the time and rugby is a big growth market for that. By acting for household name brands and having specialist knowledge in sport, Brandsmiths understands that market better than anyone. They share our core values and we look forward to working with them.”

 

Secondly, Brandsmiths acted in the purchase of Morecambe FC, with Manchester the hub for negotiations.
