A manufacturer of bespoke electric classic cars is geared up for success thanks to expert help from award-winning law firm FBC Manby Bowdler.

Commercial contracts specialist Emma Truslove has been working with RBW Electric Classic Cars as the Staffordshire company starts taking orders for its stunning EV Roadster – an entirely new electric car based on the classic MGB.

The £90,000 custom-built vehicle has been three years in development and received widespread praise at its pre-production launch earlier this year.

Redditch-based Emma, part of FBC Manby Bowdler’s Corporate team, was called in by RBW to draw up specialist sales contracts ahead of the car going into production early next year.

Emma said she was delighted to work on such an innovative, forward-thinking project.

“Each of these cars are custom-built by the company at Shenstone, so it is absolutely essential that the sales contracts reflect the individuality of the vehicles.

“We have worked with the company to produce a bespoke set of terms and conditions for the sale of each car which takes into account the innovative engineering behind them, the classic car heritage and the individuality of each vehicle.

“It is always rewarding to work with such forward-thinking companies, particularly when they realise the importance of getting specialist legal advice tailored to their needs. The new Roadster is a wonderful-looking, innovative car and I am certain it will prove to be a huge success.”

Peter Swain, Managing Director of RBW, said Emma’s work had been vital as the company prepared to start production.

“As RBW enters this new commercial era, Emma’s support and guidance has been invaluable in getting us ready to engage with our potential customers with complete confidence on the next steps towards purchasing and the build process.”

The Roadster is inspired by the MGB Roadster of the 1960s, taking the classic sports car design and enhancing it for the modern world with a patented power drivetrain system which takes the car from 0-60mph in nine seconds.

RBW has worked with Continental Engineering Services (CES) and Zytek Automotive, both part of Continental AG, which provides the world championship winning technology applied to Formula E racing cars.

Production begins in early 2021 with prices starting from £90,000 plus taxes, with an initial £5,000 deposit. Orders are already being taken with RBW taking the car to clients for Covid-safe test drives.
