Law firm supports free will writing service for charities

"Around two thirds of adults in the UK do not have a will, which is why the service that Bequeathed is offering is so important."
FBC Manby Bowdlers sales director Neil Lloyd

Charities across the Midlands are being urged to take up a new initiative that allows their supporters to have their will written for free.

Award winning solicitors FBC Manby Bowdler, which has offices in Shropshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire has become one of the first law firms in the UK to sign up to Bequeathed, an online will writing service.

FBC Manby Bowdler supports the platform exclusively in SY, TF, WV and DY postcodes so charities can offer the Bequeathed service to their followers free to charge. Anyone requiring a more complex will is referred to the law firm for a quote for the additional work required.

Organisations already working with Bequeathed and FBC Manby Bowdler include the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton; University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, a group of four hospital charities covering the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital; St Mary’s Hospice in Birmingham, the Lord’s Taverners (West Midlands) and the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust.

FBC Manby Bowdler’s sales director Neil Lloyd said: “Around two thirds of adults in the UK do not have a will, which is why the service that Bequeathed is offering is so important.

“Charities benefit by having a free will-writing service that is simple and convenient to offer to their supporters who may want to take the opportunity to leave a small gift to a charity they believe in.

“We are on hand to help those people who have more complex estates get the right will in place so they can have peace of mind.”

Jon Brewer, CEO of Bequeathed, said: “Making a will is the only way to ensure that your wishes are carried out when you die and that the people and causes you care about are looked after.

“Our service is straightforward and, thanks to the support of businesses like FBC Manby Bowdler, completely free to the charity.”
